The preverbial powerslide

Buying a car is a drag, and not a good drag (as in the race.) Its a difficult task to find the right quality of car you are after (likely a good quality second hand motor.)

It is easier to do dependant on the quantity of available vehicles within the market, for example to buy a vauxhall vectra LS would be considerably less time consuming than to find a 1932 Rolls Royce in good nick. As well as the quantity issue you may also have problems with locations, as if you live in london it may be hard to find a tractor locally (I would have said 4×4 but now theres probably more bmw x5’s in the towns than there is anywhere rural - chelsea tractors!!!!)

So ideally you will just be rich enough to buy a car brand new and get the garage to deliver it. Shame we mostly cant afford that isnt it!

Whatever you are looking for though its good to check a range of sources: Personally I always check autotrader (www.autotrader.co.uk) first, although nowadays they are not that great - alot of spam adverts and sellers 50 miles away - great! Next I check one of the more local online sites, in my case more wales specific. Like Wheels-Near-U (www.wheels-near-u.co.uk) who are marginally better.

Local papers just cant compete with online services like wheels-near-u.
